The Sarut Group is a company rich with history, starting with the company name. The name Sarut (pronounced Sa-roo), is derived from the names of Ceppos’ grandparents Sadie, Arch, and Ruth. The cache of products offered by The Sarut Group is laden with historical, scientific and cultural references. The diverse backgrounds of Mr. Rambaud (who was born in West Africa and educated in Europe) and Mr. Ceppos (who was born and raised in New York City and spent 10 years living in France) is evident in the globally influenced merchandise that The Sarut Group offers.
Ceppos and Rambaud launched Sarut in 1979 within the fashion industry. In 1985, Sarut entered the gift industry with just one product; the Cosmic Star Finder, which was revised and renamed the Stellarscope®, and this product continues to be the company’s number one seller!
Almost 30 years later, The Sarut Group has grown to be an industry acclaimed company comprising 3 divisions including wholesale, retail (Pylones), and E-commerce.
The Sarut Group is headquartered in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn in New York City.
